Bachelorette Party Antics!

We are officially in the countdown to the big day. The day in every girls life they dream about.   That's right. The Bachelorette party! Well let me just start out with practically every girl dreams about this day. Myself and best friend don't seem to be included in that lump sum, but you know what? We are freaking excited about it NOW!

Fun with the girls... You know that sounds like a wonderful idea. So how does one achieve this girls night out. As with everything that depends on the girl in question so first who are you dealing with. My bachelorette is Amanda!

Amanda (Left) Me (Right)
WonderTwins in Action

Ever girl has that person that brings out the inner dork. Amanda and I are those people to each other. So what is it I can do to give this woman her night! So I asked myself. What does Amanda love? Well she loves FOOD! YAY! That's easy. Now I just need to figure out some yummy delights (delights will be posted post bachelorette party. I need to keep some things secrete from the girl). One cannot have a night entirely on food (well we really could but I wanted some variety for the evening). What goes with food???? Alcohol. Check and Check. Let's see what else do we need?

Sparkles please!
Who doesn't love Sparkles.. I mean they are just so... well. Sparkly

A little craftiness to add to the fun!

How to get the word out? Everything seems to be electronic these days and well it just makes life easier. I used paperless post online to create an electronic invitation. It was wonderful! I used one of their free templates, customized it to our event and bam! I can control the invitation, RSVP's and updates through the site. Plus there is a bonus of a being able to link the photos of all the girls through the site. Awesome!

As residents of party central, Las Vegas, location is a no brainer. Disneyland! Well, that is where I wanted the Bachelorette party to be. So second option wins. DOWNTOWN Baby! Screw the strip its way expensive!

Every girl should have a little something something in case of an emergency. That is where the bachelorette survival kit comes in hand. Saving you in the moment of need.

This is just the beginning people! As the events unfold and packages created I will update the post to ensure the Bachelorette is kept out of the loop. So until then...

BLOGGER'S BLOCK

Blogger: a person who writes and usually publishes a blog

Writers Block: Wikipedia describes writer's block as a condition in which the author loses ones ability to create new work or experiences a decrease in creativity.
Blogger's Block: One giant headache and accumulation of created entries for ones blog that ends with a blogger grabbing a glass of wine and walking away.

So here we are April 3rd. What?! When did that happen. I have
found myself starting a near tend different posts that will most
likely be completed one some point in the future. As a new blogger
I'm finding it difficult to find my voice. I would just say hey blogging
isn't for me that I'm not cut out for it, but something is something
inside me "some little voice" that keeps pushing me. So what does
one write about when all they can think about is their block?
Well their block of course!

So, What has been on my mind? Well; Bachelorette party planning, Baby's first birthday, healthy food receipts (um that are delicious btw), spring cleaning your finances, getting into shape, CUPCAKES!!! (not so healthy but so yummy) and making matching Disneyworld outfits. So yeah! I have idea right, but where to start . What to do? Geez so much to say and no where to start.

So there you go. My blogger's block in a nut shell and "Crossing finger" here is hoping that there will be an explosion of ideas that are complete and wonderfully expressed.

Lemons and Limes All Year Long!

Lemons and Limes All Year Long!

So what would you say to a fresh Key Lime pie in the winter or a Key Lime Margarita on the fly? Heck yeah! But hey that might be just me. I have found a handy little trick that I have fallen in love with, Frozen lemon and lime juice. It all started when I was going to make a key lime pie and had the hardest time finding the little buggers at the store. I didn't think it would have been that difficult. So being the stubborn person who doesn't like to be constrained by, growing seasons, I plotted and found a way around mother nature. HAHA

I using key limes today, since I'm all out, but this technique is great for lemons and limes as well.

Supplies needed:
key limes/ lemons/ limes
knife
cutting board
paper towel (not shown but highly recommended)
hand juicer
tea strainer
measuring spoons
measuring cup or regular bowl
ice cube trays

After opening up your key limes out you need to cut them in half. There are actually two ways you can cut the limes depending on your preference. You can cut them in half as shown below or you can cut of the end on two opposite sides of the lime. Both ways give about the same amount of juice just less cutting when cut in half.

Now you place the lime open side down in the juicer and juice into the measuring cup or bowl. You may need to squeeze a couple times manipulating the lime into different positions.

Now remember that paper towel I suggested. Yeah. You might want to put it under the bowl you are juicing into. Prevents a sticky mess.

Depending on what you are juicing you will yield different amounts of juice. I got about 1 1/4 cups of juice from the 2 bags or 39 key limes that I juiced. Next using a table spoon and a tea strainer you can pour 1 table spoon of key lime juice into the ice trays. This will help in catching any seeds or pulp that have come through.

Once full time for the freezer!

Now I wouldn't recommend doing this if you have any cuts on your hand. Ouch! does it hurt.

But there you go a handy little trick that I have fallen in love with. Who wouldn't want to have fresh key lime, lemon or lime juice on hand for cooking or drinks.

Oh! and another tip is this is great to do when you find a big bag in the clearance section at the grocery stores. They are perfect for juicing and it doesn't matter that they have a short lifespan. Perfect!

What's one of your favorite tricks? Please share I love learning new ones.

How to Clean Your Neglected Heels

The dreaded day that I'm to return to work from Maternity leave has finally arrived. Uggh. I’m not looking forward to leaving that cute little face in the morning. I wish that he would just be a cranky baby.

But with every sad side there is a positive one. Now I get to wear my pretty heels again. After taking a look at my shoes though, I realized that my shoes are in desperate need of attention.

They need just a little TLC. Who am I kidding I have completely neglected them. Well, that stops here. After doing a little online research with my trusty helper (google and Pinterest) I found a couple techniques to give a try.

Suede Shoes

I started with my cloth suede heels. I decided to try a method that I found on Southern Girly’s blog. I had a good feeling about this method since it is very similar to what I do for my microfiber couch (that is awesome).

First you take a bottle of alcohol and a paper towel or light colored sponge would work as well. The alcohol will work with the suede because it dries faster than water. This allows for the cleaning of the material without staining.

Apply the alcohol on the shoe. I used a small spray bottle with the alcohol to make applying it on the shoe easier.

Than with the paper towel or sponge wipe in a blotting upwards motion. You will notice the paper town get dirty and will want to keep rotating to a clean spot. This will ensure you don't rub the dirt back into the fabric.

Now keep working your way around the shoe and let dry. Mine were REALLY bad so I went over them again, but as you can see it really does work.

Cloth Shoes

I found a couple suggested techniques for cleaning cloth heels. I started with the easiest method first that I found on ehow.com.

First, I took my two pairs of shoes and four pillow cases. I sprayed the right shoe of each pair with resolve fabric cleaner to determine if that worked as well, and so I could compare it to just that cleaned with the laundry detergent.

I ran the shoes through the delicate cycle and compared the shoes. Turns out the resolve didn’t make a difference, but they both still look GREAT!

The sole cover inside the gold shoes is starting to lift up, but I believe that was a preexisting problem, but with a little shoe glue that will be fixed.
I do think that if you are nervous about putting your heels in the washer than just do it by hand. I would probably use a tooth brush and just go slowly in circles. .

[Update: July 12, 2015]

I thought it was time to share a bit of sadness with this particular pair of shoes and the method through the washer. I did wash two different pairs of heels in the washer and this one is those only pair that shoes any negative results. This could be to manufacturing or the nature of the materials the heels are made out of. These pair felt "softer" after washing them. What I mean by that is that I didn't feel as sturdy on the heels. They were wobbly under me. Now time and time again I have checked over the heels to make sure they aren't falling apart, and they are not! My advise to you is that depending on the material you are safer to not wash them in a machine, but give them that love they so need.

Patent Leather

I love hand sanitizer!

Yet another reason that I love this stuff it removes scuff marks from my patent leather shoes.
Can we just admit... these are bad

As you can see my pumps are covered in scuff marks. I previously had tried warm soap and water. That didn't work. So I was a little skeptical about the hand sanitizer.

I found many suggested items that remove the scuff: hand sanitizer, rubbing alcohol, nivea cream, mineral oil or petroleum jelly ….etc. But after reading the comments on Imogen Lamport’s inside out style I decided to give the hand sanitizer a try. Plus I already had some so win win!

The alcohol does work as well, but the hand sanitizer removes it easier less rubbing.

All you need is a paper towel and hand sanitizer. Apply the HS to the paper towel and wipe at the scuff marks.

Voila!  As you can see my shoes are like brand new! I love it!

It amazes me how easy it was to bring my shoes from something that looked like they should be in the trash to my pretty new shoes. Now all I need to do is not neglect my shoes anymore!
Before
After!

Have you neglected your shoes or do you have awesome way to clean them. Please let me know what works for you!
